The iON evo launched by Hankook Tire is the first summer tire for electric vehicles to obtain ISCC PLUS. The tire is also the (OE) designated tire for the Porsche Taycan. 45% of the raw materials used in the production of iON evo are sustainable materials. The manufacturing technology of iON evo comes from Hankook iON Race tires, which was the designated tire for vehicles in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship starting from 2023.
Hankook Tire makes its tires using renewable and recycled materials that match the same component strength, flexibility and durability as conventional tires. These include bio-based silica from grain waste, recycled PET textile cord from plastic waste, bio-recycled synthetic rubber from bio-recycled raw materials, recycled carbon black from scrap tires, and even natural resins. This advanced tire also features a tread compound containing vegetable oil, enhancing the overall tire sustainability and durability. The ISCC PLUS logo is also engraved on the sidewalls of some tires, with sizes 245/40 R21Y XL (FA) and 285/35 R21Y XL (RA). In addition to using sustainably produced and recycled materials, the iON series also ensures that the performance of the tires can provide higher safety and performance. Therefore, since its launch, the iON series tires have been approved by many tire testing media and German third-party neutral testing institutions which as TUV. The data shows that its rolling efficiency is up to 25% higher than that of high-performance tires of the same level, providing longer driving distance, thereby saving energy, and contributing to environmental protection and emission reduction.
